New grape cultivation models open up opportunities for local agriculture

In recent years, farmers across the province have increasingly adopted new grape varieties, creating high-value agricultural models that help diversify crop production while opening up opportunities for agritourism and experiential tourism development.

In Residential Group 9 of Minh Xuan Ward, the Shine Muscat grape vineyard owned by Hoang Thi Cuc is entering its first harvest season. After studying the crop’s growth characteristics and learning from successful cultivation models elsewhere, Cuc invested in soil improvement, trellis construction, and a safe farming process that incorporates organic fertilizers and an automated irrigation system. Covering more than 500 square meters, the vineyard now yields between 15 and 20 grape clusters per vine. With a market price of around VND 250,000 per kilogram, the crop offers significantly higher economic returns than many traditional fruit varieties. The vineyard has also become an attractive destination for visitors interested in agricultural experiences.

Meanwhile, in Trung Hamlet, Xuan Giang Commune, the family of Hoang Van Cham is harvesting its first crop of Black Pearl grapes on an area of more than 1,400 square meters, with approximately 500 vines. Each vine produces between seven and ten clusters, weighing an average of 0.5 to 0.8 kilograms each. When ripe, the grapes feature an appealing deep-red color, thick flesh, a seedless texture, and a distinctive sweet flavor. The fruit is currently sold at around VND 150,000 per kilogram. Achieving these results required significant investment in soil improvement, pH adjustment, and strict adherence to cultivation techniques.

The trend of developing new grape varieties is not limited to Minh Xuan and Xuan Giang. In Bac Quang Commune, Nguyen Van Thuyen has established a nearly one-hectare Black Pearl grape farm. After more than two years of investment and overcoming challenges related to cultivation techniques and weather conditions, the vineyard has entered its first harvest season, with an estimated yield exceeding 300 kilograms.

The success of these grape-growing models demonstrates the potential of introducing high-quality grape varieties into local agricultural production. Beyond generating stable income for farmers, the projects are contributing to the development of eco-friendly agriculture, experiential tourism, and the promotion of distinctive local agricultural products. They also represent an important step toward building a greener, more modern, and sustainable agricultural sector.
