Pac Ta (in the Tay language meaning “breast of heaven”), also known as Voi (Elephant) Mountain, is the highest mountain in Na Hang District. From each viewing angle, Pac Ta Mountain exudes different shapes such as a pensive elephant or a giant wine bottle.
In 2007, Tuyen Quang Hydropower Project was completed and put into use and the Na Hang - Lam Binh ecological lake thereby became a tourism destination with a total area of 8,000 hectares, contributing to the embellishment of the poetic beauty of Pac Ta Mountain as well as attracting a lot of visitors.
The poetic beauty of Pac Ta Mountain.
There is a vestige of an ancient temple at the foot of Pac Ta Mountain, a confluence between two rivers which worships the fiancée of the famous General Chieu Van Vuong - Tran Nhat Duat who defended the land of Tuyen Quang and fought against the Yuan-Mongol invaders on the second occasion.
After many changes in position and restoration, Pac Ta Temple was rebuilt in 2008. The temple was inaugurated and recognised as a national relic by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2009. The fiancée of the General Tran Nhat Duat was worshiped as the Holy Mother by the local people at the foot of the legendary Pac Ta Mountain.
Today, Pac Ta Mountain and Pac Ta Temple are attractive destinations for both domestic and foreign tourists, contributing to promoting tourism development in Na Hang District.
