Developing tourism in alongside the preservation of cultural values

TQO - Na Hang District is home to 12 ethnic groups, mainly Tay and Dao people. The locality welcomed over 75,000 tourists in the first ten months of 2020.

The district has restored and preserved the "Long Tong" (Going to the field) Festival of the Tay ethnic group across its communes and towns in order to attract more visitors. In addition, many other traditional festivals have been maintained such as the Gia Com (Braying green rice flake) Festival in Con Lon Commune and the Fire Dance Festival of the red Dao ethnic minority people in Da Vi Commune.

Na Hang District has focused on preserving the cultural values of ethnic groups in association with its tourism activities. Tourists can not only visit destinations but also experience the customs and cultural identities of local ethnic groups through festivals, costumes and daily activities.

Over recent years, the district’s authorities have proactively improved the quality of the tourism workers. The local Centre for Vocational Training and Continuing Education has organised many training courses to help local people sharpen their tourism skills.

The district has also enhanced investment in infrastructure and transportation as well as building a night market in order to stimulate tourism demand and promote local cultural identities and cuisine. In particular, more than 20 Then and Pao Dung singing clubs of the Tay and Dao people have been formed so far.
