New life of H'mong people in Tan An

TQO - Tan An is a poor village of Dong Tho commune (Son Duong) with 100% H'mong people. In recent years, with the attention and care of the Party and the State, local people have strived to develop their economy and daily life.

The model of raising laying hens brings economic efficiency.

According to the report of the Commune People's Committee, in 2023, the rate of poor households in the village accounted for 51.3%. To date, that number has decreased significantly, to only over 25% with 39 households.

Implementing the Project on socio-economic development to build the political system of H'mong ethnic minority areas in Son Duong district for the period 2022 - 2026 in the village, the commune has coordinated with related units to develop production, increase income for people, build and replicate production development models according to the value chain. Since the beginning of the year, 15 households have been supported with feed choppers for cattle and buffaloes and silage techniques, supported the construction of a tank to collect cattle and buffalo waste with a total cost of over VND95 million and donated 20 televisions to H'mong households in the village.

In particular, the "National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas for the 2021-2025 period" with many support policies from the Party and State has been effective. As one of the families supported with plant varieties and livestock to develop the economy.

Ms. Ly Thi Mai, a Mong ethnic, shared: "Previously, my family's life mainly relied on growing corn and rice, but the efficiency was not high, and the land was barren. Thanks to the guidance of the staff, my family switched to growing custard apple trees on the rocky mountains. At first, I was very worried, but after being shown how to take care of the trees and use fertilizers, my custard apple garden is growing well".

Mr. Ngo Van Sinh is the main breadwinner in his family of 7. With support to implement the model of raising breeding chickens, his family's chicken flock has grown steadily, each chicken weighs an average of 1.2 - 1.5 kg. He shared: "My family used to be very poor, we had to worry about food and clothing every day. Thanks to the support of 85 breeding chickens, I was determined to take good care of them. The chickens are raised in a biosafety direction, promising to be the main and sustainable income for the family in the future." 

The changes in Tan An are not only a story about the economy but also a journey of renewing the thinking and aspirations of the Mong people. From the difficulties of the past, now, each family has risen up to build a prosperous and happy life. This is a testament to the continuous efforts of the whole community, working together to build a brighter future.
