Therefore, there are many young people who waste time, effort, and money trying to study at university or in professions that do not suit their abilities or meet the needs of society. leading to unemployment, or working in occupations that do not match their trained expertise.
In order for career guidance and student placement to be highly effective and vocational training associated with job creation for workers, the Prime Minister has approved the Project "Career education and stream orientation" for students in general education in the period 2018 - 2025. Implementation of the Project has received regular attention and direction from all levels of educational management and achieved positive results. Initially, there was coordination between schools, businesses, and experts in career counseling for students, contributing to creating changes in the awareness of learners, families and society in choosing majors and professions.
However, career guidance and student stream orientation in high schools still have many shortcomings and limitations. Specifically, there has not been a qualitative difference in terms of both professional attitudes and professional knowledge; The ability to choose a suitable career for each student has not been developed. Student streamlining has not been promoted, post-secondary students still mainly want to go to university, etc.
Vocational education and student orientation in general education, if done well, will help the country properly utilize the potential of young workers. This is important for economic development, improving the quality of human resources and labor productivity. It is a solution that contributes to adjusting the structure of human resources training qualifications and occupations, meeting the needs of human resource restructuring and appropriate economic restructuring in the context of international integration.
