Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attends launch of tree-planting festival in Tuyen Quang Province

TQO - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on February 23 attended the launch of a tree-planting festival in Tuyen Quang Province, on the occasion of the Lunar New Year, which is part of the activities to respond to a programme to plant 1 billion trees initiated by the Government leader.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and leaders of Tuyen Quang Province participated in planting trees at the launching ceremony.

Addressing the ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc emphasized that according to the the government’s programme of planting one billion green trees in the period of 2021-2025, there will be nearly 700 million trees grown in urban areas and in rural areas, and more than 300 million trees are planted in concentrated forest. The programme is expected to contribute to green up barren hills as well as urban and rural areas across the country. Tuyen Quang Province is expected to be the first destination of this programme.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc praised Tuyen Quang as a typical locality in afforestation, forest protection and forestry economic development associated with building new rural-style areas.

He also requested Tuyen Quang to promote afforestation and forest protection in combination with forest environmental services and eco-tourism as well as preserving traditional cultural identity and build new-style rural areas, improving local people's lives thanks to afforestation that brings Tuyen Quang to become a typical locality in terms of forestry economic development in the country.

After the launching ceremony, the Prime Minister and leaders of the province and a large number of people, union members and young people in the locality eagerly participated in planting trees in response to the “Tree-planting festival: Forever grateful to Uncle Ho” campaign. Accordingly, over 3,000 parashorea chinensis trees were grown in an 3-hectare area.
