Decision on recognising Tuyen Quang City as a grade-II city announced

TQO - The Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, the Fatherland Front Committee of Tuyen Quang Province and Tuyen Quang city organised a ceremony at the Provincial Conference Center on February 23 to announce Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s decision on recognising Tuyen Quang city as a grade-II city.

Addressing the ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc praised and congratulated the Party Committee, authorities and people of ethnic groups in Tuyen Quang Province for the results achieved in the socio-economic development over the past time.

He also praised Tuyen Quang as the first province organise urban upgrading programme  and the groundbreaking of the highway right after the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam organized. That confirms the urgent and serious working spirit of Tuyen Quang Province at the beginning of the year. Especially, Tuyen Quang City meets the criteria of grade-II urban area is an important milestone, creating a driving force for all ethnic groups in the locality to contribute to the country’s development.

In 2010, Tuyen Quang City was established under the Government's Resolution No. 27 / NQ-CP. After 10 years, the city has 10 wards and 5 communes with a total natural area of 18,438 hectares and and an average per capita income of VND72.3 million per person per year, equal to 1.42 times of the national average. The average economic growth in the last 3 years was 12.5%. Up to now, the urbanization rate of the city has reached over 72%. Tuyen Quang is considered one of the cities with a high rate of urbanization in the Northern mountainous region.
