Women in Kim Phu commune (Tuyen Quang City) introduce some traditional cakes.
They make chung cake on January 15 (lunar calendar), troi cake on the 3rd day of the Qingming Festival, lang cakes for the Doan Ngo Festival, gai cake and honey cake on the full moon of July, giay cake on October 10. Especially, chung cake, gai cake and and 'chim gau' (spotted dove) cake are indispensable dishes during the Lunar New Year.
According to Nong Thi Ngoc, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Kim Phu Commune (Tuyen Quang City), traditional cakes of the Cao Lan people have been preserved. In addition to making cake during the holidays, some women have made cakes to serve the market demand.
Along with unique cultural treasures such as Sinh ca and Sanh drums, unique cuisine is the highlight of culture identity of the Cao Lan.
