The province has over 448,000 hectares of forestry, accounting for 76% of the natural area. The total area of forestry is estimated at more than 415,000 hectares, with over 233,000 hectares being natural forest and over 182,000 hectares being production forests. Every year, the province plants an additional 10,000 hectares of production forests, the provincial forest coverage having reached 65%.

The existing forest resources in Tuyen Quang Province have created favourable conditions to attract investment in the fields of wood processing, eco-tourism development and handicrafts. It has also laid the foundation to restructure the forestry sector and improve the livelihoods of forestry workers.
The total annual volume of exploited wood in Tuyen Quang province has reached 800,000 cu.m, accounting for over 25% of the total volume of the northern midland and mountainous region and fundamentally meeting the demand of the provincial wood processing industry.
The forestry sector makes an important contribution to provincial industrial development of which the forest product processing industry accounts for 27% of the province’s total industrial value and 67% of the production value of the local agriculture, forestry and fishing processing. The forestry sector has also contributed to improving people's lives, stabilising security and defence, as well as protecting the ecological environment.
