In 2019, the commune fulfilled all 19 criteria for new rural development. Besides, the local authorities have actively mobilised the people to shift the structure of crops and animals towards commodity production and in accordance with the strengths of the locality.

In particular, the commune has proactively coordinated with many units and businesses to implement cultivation and husbandry projects to create stable livelihoods for locals. Currently, two enterprises are implementing the intensive tea farming model “Safe Production” on a total area of 8 hectares in Khuon He Hamlet.
The buffalo and cow fattening model has brought high economic efficiency for people in Kim Quan. Besides, many projects to raise poultry and grow corn and potato are now underway and showing remarkable results.
By the end of 2019, Kim Quang’s annual income per capita reached VND33.3 million (US$1,448), bringing the rate of poor households in the commune down to 9.4%.
