Keeping the forest like a treasure

TQO - Tan Trao special-use forest (Son Duong) has nearly 4,000 hectares, including over 3,100 hectares of natural forest.

Mr. Do Xuan Toai, Head of Deo Deo Forest Ranger Station, said that the special-use forest area is mainly in Tan Trao, of which Tan Lap village has nearly 1,000 hectares. Under the forest canopy is a huge treasure trove of herbal plants such as Gynostemma pentaphyllum, areca ginseng, polyscias fruticosa, amomum and many precious herbal medicines.

Tan Lap forest is strictly protected, so underground water is abundant and cool all year round, serving well for living and production.

Forest protection is also considered a form of competition between households. In Tan Lap, the village's convention on forest protection has always been maintained. Whoever cuts down trees will be denounced by the people themselves.

In addition to protecting special-use forests, Tan Lap people also plant native trees in vacant hill areas and replace trees that die due to aging, aiming for eco-tourism.

In order to promote the value of Tan Trao special-use forest for tourism economic development, the province has a policy of measuring and reviewing the current status of primeval special-use forests in Tan Lap village, Tan Trao commune to build Build "Uncle's Gratitude Tree Forest" with an estimated area of about 100 hectares.

Tan Lap Forest has a historical mark and is the source of people's livelihood, so the forest has great meaning to the people. Tan Lap people consider the forest as a treasure, preserve it, and pass it on to the next generation.
