Sweet orange season in Ham Yen

TQO - These days, farmers in Ham Yen district are taking care of their orange gardens to prepare for export to the market for the upcoming Lunar New Year Giap Thin 2024.

Vietnam Organic Agriculture Association visits the organic orange model in Tan Thanh commune (Ham Yen).

According to farmer households in Ham Yen, this year's orange prices will increase at the end of the year, so many families have not yet harvested massively, instead focusing on pruning early ripe fruits.

In order for orange trees to develop sustainably, Ham Yen district has expanded and developed an organic production model, VietGAP. Currently, in Ham Yen district there are 198 farms, of which 172 farms grow oranges.

The district has built 20 orange production groups according to VietGAP standards, with a total area of over 806 hectares with 380 participating households. Ham Yen district's organic orange production area currently has 15.8 hectares of 12 households in 4 production groups in Tan Thanh, Nhan Muc communes and Tan Yen town.

In order for the orange tree to develop sustainably and reach far, in the coming time, the District People's Committee will issue a plan for sustainable development of the orange tree. The district continues to increase the area of oranges grown according to VietGAP, Global GAP, and organic processes to have clean products to supply to the market and increase the value of oranges.

Converting and applying science and technology to producing and caring for oranges in a clean, organic way is bringing higher value to oranges in Ham Yen, bringing a source of income for people.
