Hoang Van Dung takes care of his family's orange garden in group 1, Doi Can Ward (Tuyen Quang City).
For many years, his family has been famous as a place to supply many kinds of fruit trees such as guava, C36 orange, V2 orange, four-season lemon, Dien pomelo, Soi Ha pomelo and Cat Que pomelo.
He chose his own way to develop agriculture by collecting and renting 2.5 hectares of abandoned fields from villagers to make a tree farm.
He shared that the Da Xanh and Soi Ha pomelo varieties are very popular. It is not difficult to sell. As a result, he has just earned VNA100 million from pomelos and nearly VND70 million from oranges.
When the pomelo trees grew well, he boldly took the lead in the hamlet to plant more guava and lemon trees in four seasons. Dung planted lemon trees because he found that lemon is a popular fruit and used all year round. Therefore, he has researched and applied techniques to help lemons produce more fruit in the off-season. An average, his 3 hectares of lemon garden generates 60 tons of fruit with selling price of VND15,000 per kg.
Meanwhile, the guava variety he grows is pear guava with high yield and sweet flavour. This year, he expects to get 30 tons of guava with the selling price of VND10 thousand per kg.
Thanks to his sharp mind in economic development, farmer Hoang Van Dung now owns a farm with a scale of 6 hectares of fruit trees. Annually, his revenue is more than VND1 billion. He creates jobs for 4 regular workers with an income of VND5 million - VND6 million per month. During the harvest season, he hires 10 more seasonal workers with the salary of VND200,000 per day.
