In which, FSC forest area is nearly 2,000 hectares while 1,500 hectares of forest have been exploited with 365 households planting FSC forests. On average, every year, the commune has from 30 households to 35 households escaping poverty from FSC afforestation.
Since the forest is certified FSC and timber has traceability, the demand for timber has increased rapidly, the output of planted forest timber is more favourable than before.
Forests in Trung Son not only bring prosperity to forest growers but also create regular jobs for 400 to 500 local workers. The commune currently has 7 cooperatives, of which 3 are trading, producing and processing forest products. There are also 20 peeled wood processing facilities.
Director of Hien Giang Wood Processing and Production Cooperative Vang Van Hien in Na Ho Hamlet said that Trung Son is a potential land for wood production and processing because most people have switched to planting FSC forest. In 2021, he boldly opened a wood processing and production cooperative. Now, the cooperative has 6 regular employees and 15 seasonal workers with an average income of VND6 million to VND8 million per person per month.
In the coming time, the local authorities will create all the most favourable conditions for cooperatives and businesses in the area to have access to the province's support capital to promote linkages in wood production and processing. At the same time, the commune continues to instruct forest growers to improve the quality of planted forest varieties, striving to make Trung Son become the largest FSC forest wood material area of the province.
