After nearly 20 years of working in the forest ranger industry, there has never been a day when Hoang The Du did not have the dream of farming. That was the driving force that urged him to take a leave of absence and return to the locality to develop the economy.
From the beginning, he determined that he would follow the path of clean agriculture, so Thanh Tuong Inter-Village Cooperative was born. He and 7 members share the same passion for searching and choosing black pig products as the key products. He himself also built Thanh Tuong black sour pork product as his main economic development direction.
To ensure the source of pork, the cooperative has linked with more than 70 households in 5 communes in the district: Thanh Tuong, Nang Kha, Yen Hoa, Da Vi and Sinh Long.
Experiencing many difficulties and challenges when building and finding output for the Thanh Tuong black sour pork product, in 2022, Du's Thanh Tuong black sour pork has achieved a 3-star Ocop product and is currently available. at a number of clean product systems inside and outside the province. Every year, about 1,000 boxes of black pork sour meat are sold to the market.
In addition to producing sour meat, Du and four members of the cooperative implement a model of growing shiitake mushrooms. He actively went online to learn how to grow shiitake mushrooms, find tree trunks, and transplant mushroom embryos. At the same time, instruct members how to care for mushrooms for maximum effectiveness. In 2023, with 10 blocks of wood, each participating member earns nearly VND4 million per month.
Not only stopping at producing black sour pork and growing fresh shiitake mushrooms, Du also grows fragrant squash, asparagus, and Korean ginseng for roots and leaves. He sowed his love for clean local agricultural products into each pumpkin root and each asparagus spear.
Du said that for more than half his life, he only had the dream of covering the fields of Thanh Tuong commune with clean food and being welcomed by consumers in the market.
