In order to preserve the Chiem Hoa bau duck breed as well as improve local people’s incomes, the People's Committee of Chiem Hoa District has cooperated with Ha Duc Company Limited in Vinh Loc Town to implement a project on selecting, restoring and developing flocks of bau ducks in Hung My, Yen Lap and Kien Dai communes.

After four years, the project has successfully implemented a model of breeding ducks, commercial ducks and duck egg hatcheries using biosafety standards. Currently, the company has raised 900 parental ducks and hatched about 30,000 duck breeds to provide for people in the area.

Chiem Hoa bau duck breeding is being developed in the communes of Tan My, Hung My, Yen Lap, Hoa An, Nhan Ly, Trung Ha, and Kien Dai. The district's capital for development of indigenous ducks is sourced from Programme 135 and the national target programme on sustainable poverty reduction.

In the near future, the district will continue to replicate the bau duck raising model to create more jobs for local people as well as help them escape from poverty in a sustainable manner.
