Cap Tien Commune promotes the model of growing jasmine plants

TQO - After 3-year experimental model of growing jasmine varieties in the area of Cap Tien Commune (Son Duong District) was implemented, up to now, farmers can havest the first batches of jasmine flowers. The economic efficiency has gradually been confirmed.

Farmers in Phu Luong Hamlet, Cap Tien Commune, Son Duong District harvesting jasmine flowers.

Mr. Dao Huy Tien in Phu Luong Hamlet was the first person to grow jasmine flowers. He said that before planting jasmine flowers, he visited the model of jasmine growing in Hanoi, Binh Duong, and Long An. Realising the effectiveness of this plant, he boldly switched 1 hectare of cornfield to flowers. After many failed attempts, he successfully planted this plant.

Accordingly, the People's Committee of Son Duong District decided to support to build a chain of planting and consuming jasmine flowers.

Currently, there are 8 households in Cap Tien Commune growing jasmine flowers with a total area of 3 hectares, mostly in Phu Luong Hamlet with 1 hectare and Tien Thang Hamlet with 2 hectares. These are 2 hamlets with enrich soil which is suitable for this plant development.

Fresh jasmine products will be purchased by Tan Kim Bac Company (Son Duong District) with prices ranging from VND60,000 to VND85,000 per kg.

Cap Tien Commune is expected to expand the jasmine growing area to 5 hectares by 2023 as well as look for more consumption markets for farmers in Cap Tien commune in particular and Son Duong district in general to get rich from jasmine flowers.
