Building a sustainable vegetable value chain

TQO - On the morning of December 17, at the Royal Palaza Center (Tuyen Quang City), Rikolto International (Belgium) Organization in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tuyen quang held a program of building a sustainable vegetable value chain with small farmer households in Vietnam.

2021 is the first year Tuyen Quang province implements the "Improving sustainable agricultural practices and connecting markets for smallholder farmers" project. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tuyen Quang Province has coordinated with the staff of the Rikolto Foundation to complete the activities of the approved project and built the model of linking production and consumption of cucumber products between farmer households and Minh Tam Cooperative (Son Duong) in 19 communes in the districts of Yen Son, Son Duong, Ham Yen, Chiem Hoa, planting 170 hectares per 1,235 participating households. The harvested output has reached over 8,640 tonnes of fruit, helping cucumber growers earn over VND43 billion.

In the coming time, Rikolto will continue to cooperate with the provincial Agriculture sector to implement safe vegetable chains in the province.
