Vinh applied an automatic watering system to the entire family's orange area.
He possesses about 4 hectares orange garden, of which, 1.5 hectares of orange trees grafted on grapefruit roots.
Last orange crop, the family harvested 4 hectares of oranges with a yield of 100 tons, earning a profit of VND1.6 billion. Of these, just 1.5 hectares of grafted oranges produced 60 tons of fruit, earning a profit of VND1.2 billion.
He said that, to graft oranges on grapefruit trunks to achieve good results and bring high economic efficiency, it is best to cut the original tree in the 11th lunar month. After only 2 years the tree will begin to bear fruit.
Realizing that if only oranges were grown in the traditional way, the land would be barren, the oranges would gradually lose their sweetness, productivity and quality would decrease. Therefore, he decided to switch to growing oranges under the VietGap standard.
As the head of the Cay Nhan Village Farmers' Association and director of Vinh Thinh Agricultural Cooperative, he has mobilized farmer members and cooperative members to convert to growing VietGap oranges. Currently, Vinh Thinh Agricultural Cooperative has 11 members with an area of 27 hectares of oranges grown according to the VietGap process.
In addition, he also applies an automatic watering model to the entire family's orange area, helping to reduce costs and labor. During the harvest period, he also creates additional jobs for about 20 local workers.
For many years, Vinh has won the title of "Good Farmer in Production and Business" at district and provincial levels. He has been awarded Certificates of Merit at all levels in labor and production emulation movements.
