Highlights of community tourism development

TQO - At homestays, visitors do not simply come to stay, visit, and experience. The most special thing is that they come to discover and enjoy the unique colours and cultural values of the indigenous people.

A foreign tourist enjoys local cuisine at Trieu Cuong homestay in Na Tong Hamlet, Thuong Lam Commune (Lam Binh).

The province has 393 accommodation establishments, including 77 homestays, concentrated mainly in 2 districts of Na Hang and Lam Binh. This is a community-based tourism model imbued with local identity.

Hoang Van Minh, owner of Tai Ngao homestay (Lam Binh) said that Homestay Tai Ngao has been in operation for more than 3 years. With 2 stilts, the homestay can welcome up to 65 guests, creating jobs for about 8-10 direct workers. Tourists coming to Tai Ngao homestay will experience activities such as pounding banh day, listening to Then singing and Pao Dung singing, or cycling and cooking at homestay.

Trieu Van Doi, owner of Trieu Cuong homestay (Lam Binh) shared that his family strictly maintains the principle: the house must be clean, the kitchen must be clean, the bathroom and toilet must be clean. In addition, the servers must be considerate, thoughtful and create the most comfortable atmosphere for visitors.

In the past 2 years, the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector, units and localities in Tuyen Quang Province have opened 17 training courses to improve knowledge about tourism activities for local people, especially skills in community tourism in order to develop the homestay tourism model.
