Unique hats of Tay children

TQO - Tay traditional hats both show the love of adults to children and protect the baby's young head.

The Tay ethnic children’s hat is usually made from small, colourful  pieces of fabric. According to the Tay people's traditional concepts, colourful hats will suit the interests of their children.

Each colour in the hat has its own meaning, black being the main traditional colour in Tay costumes, green representing grass and trees in nature, and red representing luck.

The hat is divided into 3 parts, the brim, body and top of the hat. The brim is a thick fabric layer from 4 to 6 cm, embroidered with eye-catching frills in 3 main colours: blue, yellow and red.

The body of the hat is usually assembled from 6 to 8 triangular slices of fabric in many different colours. This part is considered the aesthetic highlight of the hat.
