The young generation preserves their traditional cultural identity

TQO - In recent years, the young generation in Tuyen Quang province has found effective ways to contributing to preserving the cultural identity of the ethnic groups.

Up to now, there are more than 100 in the province clubs preserving traditional cultural identity. The clubs opens with many activities such as preserving language, costumes, traditional craft, traditional songs and dances, etc. Each member participates in the club with a spirit of volunteer.

Secretary of the Communist Youth Union of Trung Ha (Chiem Hoa) Quan Thi Hien said that, the Commune Youth Union has established the Then singing and Tinh gourd lute club since 2019. At first, the club had 9 members. Now, the club has 13 members. The club focuses on preserving the national language and costumes, practicing Then songs, playing the Tinh lute. In particular, the club also instructs the students at the Trung Ha Ethnic Minority Semi-boarding School on how to sing Then and play the Tinh lute.

Established in 2022, the club in Phai Da village, Chieu Yen commune (Son Duong) has attracted 47 members in preserving Dao ethnic cultural identity. The club's president Ban Th Ha said that, the club attracts a lot of young people. Evenly, the youngest member is now 22 years old. Thanks to the guidance of experienced members, children have learned many dances and songs of the Dao ethnic group.

Club members not only actively participate in preserving cultural identities in the locality, but also are the core force of schools and localities participating in cultural festivals.

Ma Thi Bich Loi from Ban Ba village, Trung Ha commune (Chiem Hoa) shared that she joined the Then singing and the Tinh gourd lute club since she has been 11th grade.  Now, she is a second-year student of Thai Nguyen University (Thai Nguyen). She is also an active member of the school's performance team and always sings Then melodies and plays Tinh lute at school.

Through specific activities, the young generation has been actively contributing to preserving their traditional cultural identity in localities in the province.
