A shaman makes ceremonial offerings to pray to the gods and ancestors to give fire dancing participants the strength.
For the Red Dao, fire is very important in their daily life and culture. Fire is considered as a god, preventing gosh, disease and bringing a prosperous life.
Before fire dancing, all participants must be male and their bodies must be clean.
After burning completely, the firewood turns into bright red coals.
The shaman performs magic before the ritual opens.
Young Red Dao people dance with their bare feet in the fire without feeling burned or afraid.
The time they dance on fire depends on the "strength" that god gave to them.
A unique festival.
