Tuyen Quang adjusts agricultural production amidst the Covid-19 pandemic

TQO - Realising the dual goals of both fighting against the pandemic while boosting production, Tuyen Quang Province has encouraged localities to proactively restructure agriculture in order to adapt to the epidemic context.

Farmers in Lien Nghia village, Vinh Quang Commune, Chiem Hoa District plant seasonal crops to regulate the market during the Covid-19 epidemic.

Instead of growing bananas for export to the Chinese market as in previous years, local people in the communes of Trung Truc and Kien Thiet (Yen Son District) have turned to planting corns for husbandry and planting material forests.

Not focusing on planting cucumbers at the same time as many previous crops, Minh Tam Poultry Cooperative in Son Duong District have promoted to spread the crops to avoid the amount of product harvested at one time too much, causing congestion and product value decrease. The cooperative members sows in batches, each time about 10-15 ha, the distance between each sowing period is 15-20 days. Every day, the cooperative ensures the supply to the supermarket system in Hanoi city from 8 to 15 tonnes.

Since the 2020 crop, the annual crop area of the province has increased, especially food crops and green vegetables. The area of corns for seeds and maize for animal feed has reached nearly 4,400 hectares. The area of peanuts is over 1,200 hectares while the area of green vegetables for the market has also tended to increase. Particularly, the area of rice has maintained on 24,000 hectares.

In addition, the price of corns for animal feed has increased from VND6,000 to VND8,000 VND/kg while the price of rice has also increased from VND13,000 to VND16,000 depending on each type.
