Na Hang promotes local strengths

TQO - Na Hang district in Tuyen Quang province has developed plants and livestock that it has strengths under the One Commune-One Product (OCOP) programme including Hong Thai and Sinh Long Shan Tuyet tea, Hong Thai vegetables, Na Hang fish, Yen Hoa green beans, Thanh Tuong pigs, Nang Kha chickens and others. Local communes and towns in the district have identified their key products to mobilise the locals to focus on turning them into commercial products.

Local people in Na Hang town invest in fish farming in cages, resulting in high economic values.

The district has over 8,000 ha of water surface and more than 100 households are carrying out aquaculture activities on the area. More than 600 tonnes of aquatic products are harvested on the Na Hang ecological lake each year including many types of fishes with high economic values including hemibagrus, spinibarbus, snakehead, and others. These types of products are also appreciated for their quality.

Hong Thai commune has selected Shan Tuyet tea tree to promote its local economy. The brand of Shan Tuyet tea is not only well-known in Vietnam but also around the world. The commune has 90.4ha of tea, including 60.4 ha of Shan Tuyet tea in addition to two tea processing establishments that purchase tea from the locals.

The district’s Office of Agriculture and Rural Development has directed every commune in the district to select specific products with strengths to promote. The district also continues to call on and create favourable conditions for enterprises, organisations and individuals to invest in building brands for local agricultural products to help the locals feel secure in agricultural production.
