The entire village currently has 19 households participating in mulberry growing and silkworm farming, with more than 1,800 cocoons. Each year selling about 1 ton of cocoons to the market such as Yen Bai, Son La, and Vinh Phuc, etc.
In 2019, the silkworm farming project towards commodity production linked along the value chain linking production with product consumption in Tan Long commune with a supporting budget of over VND2 billion was implemented, creating a new direction for farmers growing mulberry trees and raising silkworms here.
Comrade Hoang Thi Hang, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tan Long commune, shared that along with expanding the farming area and replicating the economic development model, the commune government also advocates establishing cooperatives and branding for products. Therefore, it helps create jobs, stabilize income for farmers.
Mr. Nguyen Van Dong, village 10, Tan Long commune, said that when silkworms prepare to make cocoons, he has to go get leaves several times each day to have enough food.
Local people in Village 10 must actively pick leaves to raise silkworms.
More than 20 hectares of soi Sinh are covered with mulberry trees.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan, village 10, is arranging silkworms to make cocoons as desired.
During the days when silkworms make cocoons, there is always someone on duty to arrange the silkworms in the right way.
Head of Village 10, Tan Long Commune - Ngo Duc Thieu shared that the mulberry tree has truly changed people's lives.
To prepare satisfactory batches of cocoons, people must choose carefully before selling them.
Growing mulberries and raising silkworms is considered a traditional profession of the people of village 10, Tan Long commune.
