Facilitating areas of safe vegetable production in Tuyen Quang City

TQO - Upholding its local advantages and potentials of agricultural production, Tuyen Quang City has planned the areas for safe agricultural products.

Local people in Hung Thanh Ward, Tuyen Quang City, growing safe vegetables for Tuyen Quang Supermarket and consumers both inside and outside the province.

There are now 40 hectares of safe vegetables in the wards of Hung Thanh, Y La, Tan Ha and Doi Can. More than 19,500 m2 of guava farming area in Kim Phu, with an output of 38 tonnes per year, was granted VietGAP certification. The city has also planned a 410-hectare high-quality rice production region under the VietGAP standard in Kim Phu Commune, Tan Ha Ward, and Y La Ward, under the cooperation project on consumption with the Hanoi-based Vietnam National Seed Joint Stock Company.

The average revenue from safe vegetable production has reached VND180 - 200 million per hectares per year, much higher than other crops. The city's safe vegetables are being purchased by Tuyen Quang Supermarket as well as providing for a number of schools in the locality.

In order to enhance the development of agricultural products forwards safety and sustainability, the City People's Committee has encouraged local enterprises and cooperatives to join in the consumption of safe agricultural products as well as in organising trade fairs both inside and outside the province to introduce the local products.
