On June 26, 2021, the Provincial Party Committee (XVII session) issued resolution on sustainable forestry development in Tuyen Quang Province in the period of 2021 - 2030, with the goal of striving to become a typical province of sustainable forestry development in association with new rural construction and ecotourism development.
Accordingly, in the period of 2011-2015, the province set a target of developing forest products and non-timber medicinal plants under the forest canopy to reach over 2,000 hectares; in the period 2026-2030, the province will maintain and develop over 3,500 hectares of forest products and non-timber medicinal plants under the forest canopy.
Currently, in the province, there are about 460 hectares of medicinal plants. In particular, medicinal plants under the forest canopy have more than 100 hectares, mostly concentrated in highland districts such as Na Hang, Lam Binh, Chiem Hoa, etc.
The initial results of the development of models of growing non-timber medicinal plants under the forest canopy are promoting, contributing to creating jobs for workers, transforming the structure of crops in rural areas, increasing income sources, and improving livelihood for the people.
