Developing sturgeon farming model in Na Hang

TQO - Thanks to the cool water downstream of Gam River, Mr. Trinh Van Ha, Na Hang town (Na Hang) brought sturgeon to the mountains to develop effective farming. Thanks to that, fish species that only live in cold water can now grow safely even in hot summers.

Mr. Ha introduces his sturgeon farming model.

In 2023, after researching water temperature, soil, and natural conditions, Ha implemented a cage fish farming model. He chose a place downstream of the river to build cages. Because here, the water temperature is stable all year round from 20-26 degrees, suitable for sturgeon to live and grow.

The sturgeon farming cage was built by Mr. Ha with dimensions of 6 x 12 x 2.5 m, total farming volume of 7,200 m3 (180 m3/cage), twice the area of cages for raising other types of fish, ensuring fish thrive. develop well.

In addition, according to Mr. Ha, raising sturgeon will be much more difficult than other types of fish because sturgeon are submerged eaters and difficult to observe with the naked eye. Therefore, every time he feeds the fish, he has to use a camera to monitor.

After 8 months of farming, the fish, suitable for the soil and properly cared for, developed well. Last May, he sold more than 3 tons of sturgeon. With the current selling price of VND250,000 - VND300,000 per kg, he earned nearly VND900 million.

Ha is currently a member of Na Hang Fisheries Cooperative. With the cage fish farming model, he is creating stable jobs for 5 local workers with a salary of VND6 million per month.

Mr. Vi Ngoc Quy, Head of the District's Agriculture and Rural Development Department, said that Mr. Trinh Van Ha's sturgeon farming model is bringing high economic efficiency. This will be a new highlight in the development of the district's aquaculture industry.
