More than 95% households in Phu Thinh own forest land with a total area of over 2,700 hectares. Additionally, the whole commune possesses more than 424 hectares of forest accredited by Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) sustainable management and 11,42 hectares of hybrid acacia for a pilot project.
Along with the expansion of forest coverage, the commune authorities have created favorable conditions for local people to establish wood processing facilities. To date, 9 wood processing factories have been built to ensure on-site timber purchasing. As a result, the locals can earn an annually income of VND100 million – VND200 million.
Nhu Van Tuat’s wood processing factory has created stable jobs for 10 workers in Dat Tra Hamlet, Phu Thinh Commune, Yen Son District.
In 2019, the whole commune exploited more than 95 hectares of forests, reaching a volume of over 7.806 m3. Thereafter, the wood was purchased and preprocessed by wood veneer workshops, and was then exported to China as well as other cities and provinces such as Ha Noi, Thai Nguyen, Ha Giang and Hai Phong.
Thanks to available raw material resources in Phu Thinh and neighboring communes, wood processing facilities have continuously operated, creating jobs for workers with an average income ranging from VND5 million - VND7 million per person per month.
To sum up, the production linkage chain has brought about practical benefits for people in Phu Thinh commune, and at the same time, contributed to product diversification and raw material market stability as well as having created more jobs and improving locals’ incomes.
