Cage fish farmers on the Na Hang ecological lake are affected by the low water level of the lake.
Currently, the province has more than 100 households raising fish in cages on the river with the number of cages of nearly 900 cages, the output is estimated at over 200 tons. Cage fish farming on the river is concentrated in the districts of Chiem Hoa, Ham Yen, Yen Son, Tuyen Quang city, etc.
According to farmers, this year the dry season came about a month earlier than expected and the water level dropped to the highest level ever.
Nguyen Van Thiet, Director of Yen Nguyen Fisheries Cooperative (Chiem Hoa) said: "In order to reduce damage, the cooperative has contacted, and sought traders to sell fish that have met the standards in size and weight. In addition, the cooperative has mobilized human resources to remove cage systems of small-sized fish and newly-seeded fish to a deeper water location".
In the coming time, the Sub-Department of Livestock, Veterinary and Fisheries will advise the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to coordinate with the People's Committees of districts and the city to continue reviewing the plan of cage fish farming to ensure the safety of farming households and stabilize production, etc.
