A 50-year journey into the digital era
Half a century has passed since the first broadcasts went on air amid the countless hardships of the early days. Since then, the first news bulletins and radio programmes of Tuyen Quang Radio and Television Station have steadfastly accompanied every step of transformation in the revolutionary homeland. Through the ups and downs of history, from the hardships of wartime and the Doi Moi (Renewal) period to today's modern, multi-platform media environment, radio broadcasting has remained true to its mission: bringing the Party's and government's voice to the people, reflecting the pulse of everyday life and fostering public trust.
Over the past 50 years, for generations of Tuyen Quang listeners, radio sets and local public address systems have become familiar companions, naturally woven into daily life. Radio programmes have provided residents with practical knowledge on agricultural production, livestock farming techniques, disaster prevention and family healthcare. They have also served as a channel for conveying people's legitimate concerns, aspirations and feedback from grassroots communities to local authorities. Through every news bulletin and story, radio programmes have helped honour outstanding individuals and good deeds, spread humanitarian values, and preserve and promote the distinctive cultural identities of Tuyen Quang's ethnic communities.
Today, the convergence of radio, television, online newspapers and emerging media formats has transformed Tuyen Quang Newspaper, Radio and Television into a modern, multimedia media organisation. Despite rapid technological advances, radio has not lost its relevance. On the contrary, digital platforms have further strengthened its reach and potential.
In response to significant changes in the public's media consumption habits, radio news bulletins and programmes have undergone a major transformation, moving beyond one-way communication towards more in-depth reporting, with greater emphasis on analysis, explanation and dialogue. Radio's enduring strengths lie in the intimacy of the human voice, the evocative power of sound and its ability to forge deep emotional connections with listeners.
Half a century is a long and proud journey. From the simple sounds of the early broadcasts amid difficult circumstances to today's expansive and modern media landscape, technologies and journalistic practices may change from day to day, but the core values upheld by Tuyen Quang radio journalists remain unchanged: their passion for the profession, wholehearted dedication to their work and unwavering responsibility to the people.
The 50th anniversary of the first radio broadcast is an occasion to pay tribute to the past and honour the quiet contributions of generations of journalists and broadcasters. It also marks a new milestone, inspiring today's staff of Tuyen Quang Newspaper, Radio and Television to continue upholding the airwaves as a channel of public trust, carrying the voice of their homeland further afield as Tuyen Quang joins the country on its journey of development.
