PM calls for timely implementation of north-south expressway projects

TQO - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc chaired a meeting on July 8 to discuss the construction of three sections of the north-south expressways, whose investment form has been switched to public investment.

The Mai Son-National Highway 45, Vinh Hao-Phan Thiet and Phan Thiet-Dau Giay sections were originally planned to be constructed under public-private partnerships.

But the National Assembly decided last June to proceed with them using public funding.

The PM asked the Ministry of Transport to quickly finalise the necessary procedures so that the first construction stages of these projects can start as early as August.

The ministry said site clearance for the three projects has achieved significant progress, with a completion rate of 95% for the Vinh Hao-Phan Thiet section, 81.3% for the Mai Son-National Highway 45 and 76.8% for the Phan Thiet-Dau Giay section.

On the same day, PM Phuc also discussed the Ben Luc-Long Thanh Expressway with key cabinet members and directed the relevant agencies to deal with some issues arising from this project.
