Minister of Planning and Investment works with Tuyen Quang Province

TQO - A delegation of the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MoPI) paid a working visit to Tuyen Quang Province on February 19-20.

At the working session, the province’s leader affirmed that Tuyen Quang has great potential for socio-economic development but is facing many difficulties. Therefore, the locality needs the attention from the central ministries and agencies to implement strategic goals and missions for s1ustainable development.

The province asked the MoPI to propose that the Government allocate investment capital for constructing, upgrading and renovating a number of roads connecting with other provinces, industrial zones and tourist areas towards tourism development, exploitation of land funds and development of agricultural and forestry production, at a total cost of over VND6.8 trillion. Accordingly, the key projects will be the construction of the Tuyen Quang – Phu Tho Expressway that will connect with the  Noi Bai – Lao Cai Expressway; the upgrade and renovation of Highway 37 and Highway 2C that will connect with Thai Nguyen Province; and the building of essential roads for tourism and service development, solving congestion and reducing traffic accidents.

The Minister of Planning and Investment and Tuyen Quang’s leaders visit the production line of Tuyen Quang Woodsland Joint Stock Company.

Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung emphasised that Tuyen Quang’s economic scale is small and its growth is low. In addition, there is lack of cohesion among economic zones in the province and the country, the quality of local human resources has not met the development requirements, and there no major enterprises and projects that have the ability to lead and spread.

He also said that Tuyen Quang should promote the potentials of cultural values, land, forest resources and tourism development. The province should attach importance to sustainable forestry development, population stabilisation and improvement of people’s lives as well as pay strong attention to the implementation of projects to improve people’s livelihoods, avoiding scattered investment.

It is essential to promote linkage among farmers, enterprises and cooperatives, in the production and value chains, added the Minister. The locality needs also to accelerate administrative reform, attract more investment in major projects to create jobs and raise incomes for local people, he said.
