1. The 80th anniversary of the “Outline on Vietnamese Culture”
The document was drafted in 1943 but remains relevant today as a guide to building and developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable development.
2. The conference of veteran Vietnamese writers
The event was intended to honour generations of Vietnamese writers who have made significant contributions to the struggle for independence, freedom and national reunification.
3. Vietnam elected member of World Heritage Committee for the 2023-2027 term
This is the second time that Vietnam has been elected to the World Heritage Committee, the first being the 2013-2017 term.
4. Ha Long Bay – Cat Ba Archipelago recognised as a World Heritage site
With 1,133 limestone islands (775 islands in Ha Long Bay and 358 islands in the Cat Ba Archipelago), this is considered a geological museum with outstanding global values.
5. Vietnam’s tourism sector wins big at World Travel Awards
Vietnam was honoured as “The World’s Leading Heritage Destination” for the fourth time, “Asia’s Leading Destination” for the fifth time and “Asia’s Leading Nature Destination” for the second time.
6. Vietnam wins gold in SEA Games women’s football for the eighth time
The national women’s football team won the gold medal at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia after defeating Myanmar 2-0. The team also made a historic presence at the World Cup for the first time.
7. Vietnam wins shooting gold medal at Asian Games for the first time
Shooter Pham Quang Huy beat strong opponents from Asian countries to win the gold medal in the men’s 10m air pistol event at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou.
8. Vietnam wins historic gold in mixed doubles table tennis at SEA Games
Dinh Anh Hoang and Tran Mai Ngoc secured the historic gold medal for Vietnam in the mixed doubles table tennis at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia. This is the first gold for Vietnam in this category at a SEA Games in 24 years.
9. Vietnamese film wins international prize
“Inside the Yellow Cocoon Shell” by filmmaker Pham Thien An won the Caméra d'Or (Golden Camera) award at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.
10. Vietnam welcomes many international artists
In 2023, many world-class artists and music groups chose Vietnam as their destination, including Super Junior, Taeyang (BIGBANG), BoA, Aespa, Hyoyeon (SNSD), KARD, BlackPink, Kenny G, West Life and Maroon 5.
