With a large space, the Museum is divided into many display areas according to each historical period. This is evidence of the heroic military history and the fighting spirit of "All for the Fatherland", "Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom" of the Vietnamese people.
Constructed by the Ministry of National Defence, the Vietnam Military History Museum sits on 386,600 square metres in the Tay Mo and Dai Mo Wards of Nam Tu Liem District (Hanoi).
These days, many delegations of veterans from provinces and cities across the country come to visit, recalling the heroic years of fighting, so that the country can have peace today.
The National Treasures exhibition area with the MiG-21 aircraft numbered 5121 and the air defense systems that contributed to the victory.
T54B tank numbered 843, one of the four National Treasures displayed and preserved at the Museum. And it was this tank that crashed through the gate of the Independence Palace on the morning of April 30, 1975, including Gunner Nguyen Van Ky (Tuyen Quang), one of the four people driving the tank.
Veterans who participated in the battlefield, now recall the heroic years of fighting.
Each artifact is not only an original but also contains a heroic historical story, clearly demonstrating the resilience and creativity of the Vietnamese army and people through the periods of struggle.
The Vietnam Military History Museum is a destination for many young people.
