National treasure in Tuyen Quang

TQO - Amidst the bright and harmonious mountain scenery of Bao Ninh Hamlet, Yen Nguyen Commune, Chiem Hoa District, there is an ancient pagoda under the Ly dynasty with the name "Bao Ninh Sung Phuc. The pagoda possesses a stele that has been recognised as a national treasure since 2013.

Bao Ninh Sung Phuc pagoda stele was recognised as a national treasure in 2013.

The stone stele was built in 1107 under Ly Nhan Tong (Can Duc). The person who sculpted the stele and built the pagoda was Ha Hung Tong while the stele composer was Ly Thua An, who lived under two dynasties Ly Nhan Tong (1072   - 1127) and Ly Than Tong (1128 - 1137).

The stele is 1.39 m height, 08 m width, 0.18 m thick, carved on monolithic green stone, the stele foot attached to the back of a stone turtle with the size of 1.50 m length, 0.9 m width and 0.32 m height.

The content of the stele consists of 25 lines with 1,130 words, recording the Buddhist teachings and merits of the Ha family.

The stone stele is also a valuable source of material for the study of political, economic, cultural and social issues of Tuyen Quang in particular and Vietnam in general under the centralized feudal regime.
