Currently, there are 2 organic tea production facilities in the province with an area of 27.5 hectares.
Deputy Director of Lang Bat Green Tea Cooperative Ninh Van Tuyen in Tan Thanh Commune, Ham Yen District said that he and the members of the cooperative plans to produce organic tea after having experience in making VietGAP tea. He realised that only organic tea production really brings the highest quality tea products to consumers and brings high economic value to tea growers. Now, he is planning to convert 1 hectare of VietGAP tea into organic farming.
Also with the goal of conquering the path of organic tea production, Director of Su Anh Agricultural Service Cooperative Nguyen Cong Su in My Lam Ward, Tuyen Quang City is developing a roadmap to produce organic tea on the basis of tea production according to VietGAP standards.
Su shared, the cooperative has converted 2 hectares of pilot-grown tea towards organic. On this area, the cooperative only uses microbial fertilizers, biological products, and says no to chemicals. According to Su, the most difficult thing when making organic tea is market access. Because the selling price of organic tea is quite high, it is suitable for people with high incomes. Therefore, the Cooperative will gradually transfer to organic tea growing in order to research market and consumers' demands.
Organic tea products are the convergence of many factors such as strict technical processes, the enthusiasm of tea makers along with suitable natural conditions. This is the inevitable trend that tea growers need to grasp in order to create the best tea products for consumers and creat high economic value.
