Trinh Duy Hung, a bee keeper in Hamlet 4, Thai Binh Commune, said that as Thai Binh houses a large area of longan and as the longan trees are heavy with flowers, which are the honeybees favourite, it is the best place for bee keepers.

Hung currently has over 500 bee boxes which are kept in the shadows of the longan trees. Everyday, he opens the boxes so that the bees will fly everywhere to gather honey.
He also share that previously, the majority of people in Thai Binh Commune spontaneously raised. Since 2019, he has gathered beekeepers in Thai Binh to establish Hung Hau Agricultural Service Cooperative.
The total number of bee colonies of the cooperative is 1,600 while the honey output reaches 30-40 tonnes per year. The cooperative's annual revenue is nearly VND4 billion. The source of income from beekeeping helps its members stabilise their lives.

The cooperative's honey product has been consumed in the southern market and purchased by traders for export to the US market.
In order for the cooperative's honey to become a local specialty product, the cooperative has selected and built the Binh Ca honey brand, developing two main products such as Binh Ca longan honey and Binh Ca wild honey. In 2020, the product has achieved 3-star OCOP product.
