Ham Yen tries to maintain the area of oranges

TQO - Orange tree is still considered as the main crop of Ham Yen district. In an effort to maintain the brand, this locality is focusing on solutions to maintain the orange area and recover the lightly infected areas.

The parental orange trees are preserved genetic resources at Ham Yen Fruit Tree Center.

Growing and caring for oranges according to organic standards is being replicated by orange growers in Ham Yen.

Ham Yen has 4 groups of households growing organic oranges, with an area of oranges converted to organic production according to PGS Vietnam organic standards of 22.6 hectare out of 15 participating households in the communes of  Bang Coc, Tan Thanh, Nhan Muc and Tan Yen town.

In order to maintain the area of oranges, the Ham Yen Fruit Tree Center selects and preserves quality parental seedlings, genetic resources and provides disease-free seedlings for orange growers in the locality.

Efforts to keep the quality and brand, gradually replacing the old orange area with quality seedlings are what Ham Yen is focusing on. In the long term, the district will focus on re-planning the orange growing area, ensuring the appropriate area and prioritizing quality.
