Key agricultural products in Ham Yen District includes orange tree, tea plant, planted timber tree, buffalo and duck. In which, the district has a total orange area of over 7,000 hectares, the yield is estimated at about 75,000 tonnes of orange per year. This is crop with the largest economic value while the harvest time is short, about 4 months (from November to February).
To support local people in orange consumption during the Covid-19 epidemic, the District People's Committee has actively contacted and coordinated with other sectors to make a specific consumption plan in each Covid-19 epidemic scenario. In which, the district has focused on propagating, coordinating and linking to increase domestic consumption by about 2% compared to previous years, reaching about 17% of output; boosting consumption via traders at wholesale markets in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City by 46%; cooperating with the Department of Industry and Trade to introduce the local agricultural products to the system of supermarkets and e-commerce platforms such as Shell, Postmart about 5.2% and sell on other channels.
The district has implemented the early consumption plan of green oranges, thin peeled oranges in 6 communes of Phu Luu, Minh Dan, Bach Xa, Minh Khuong, Tan Thanh, Yen Thuan to supply orange raw materials in other provinces.
In addition, the district has promoted the consumption of other agricultural products such as tea and Minh Huong duck. Minh Huong Commune has 60 households raising ducks with over 10,000 ducks.
With the efforts of local authorities and people in the district, the consumption of Ham Yen's key agricultural products has been removed difficulties.
