The joy of the people of Luc Hanh commune when custard apple trees give high economic efficiency.
In 2023, Luc Hanh custard apples will become a typical OCOP product of the commune, a product serving the market of the 15th of July and the Mid-Autumn Festival every year.
Thanks to the effectiveness of custard apples, last year the whole commune planted 14 more hectares of custard apples, bringing the total area of custard apples in Luc Hanh commune to 123 hectares, concentrated in the villages of Minh Khai, Ben, Lang Tra, Dong Rom, and Lang Quai.
According to the cycle, custard apples produce 1 crop per year in the 7th and 8th lunar months. However, Luc Hanh custard apple growers have stimulated and pollinated the custard apples to flower and bear fruit out of season.
Off-season custard apples will be harvested at the end of the year, and the selling price may be twice as high as the main season price. Households growing custard apples are trained by agricultural extension officers on skills of selecting varieties, planting, fertilizing, watering, weeding, pest control, pruning, harvesting, and preserving custard apples.
Comrade Tran Huy Huong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Luc Hanh commune, affirmed that in addition to grapefruit trees, custard apple trees are also the economic mainstay of the commune.
Based on potential and strengths, the locality has gradually planned specialized areas for growing custard apples in the area.
The Luc Hanh custard apple brand, products packaged, labeled, and specifically cited geographically, are trusted by customers.
