The commune has proactively built appropriate economic models such as: promoting economic afforestation, developing husbandry forwards commodity direction and enhancing services and trade.
The Commune People's Committee has organised training courses on breeding techniques, and communicated households to focus on disease vaccination for livestock as well as husbandry in association with environmental protection.

The commune has constructed an experimental region for growing Japanese lemon trees with a total area of 30-hectare, mostly in Dong Chua, Dong Lanh, and Trai Dat Hamlet. After more than 3 years, lemon trees have grown well and they are expected for the first harvest by 2023.
The economic afforestation model has been also focused by the communal authorities. Currently, the commune has 1,355 hectares of forest, including acacia and eucalyptus forest. In addition, the model of growing fruit trees in combination with raising chickens on the hills was interested by the local people.
Recently, trade and service activities in Tan Thanh Commune have rapidly increased. Up to now, more than 30 households in the locality with nearly 100 employees have worked in the field of trade and services. Some types of commerce and services have been promoted such as transportation, catering and groceries.
