According to a review conducted as of June 24, 2026, Tuyen Quang had 408,931 households, including 93,529 multidimensionally poor households, accounting for 22.87% of the total. Of these, 62,601 were poor households, accounting for 15.31%, while 30,928 were near-poor households, or 7.56%. The province has set a target of reducing the poverty rate by 3-4% in 2026.

To achieve this target, Party committees and authorities at all levels have rolled out a range of solutions, including eliminating temporary and dilapidated housing, attracting investment and creating jobs, improving vocational training, and supporting residents in developing production, business and economic models suited to local strengths.

During the first nine months of 2026, the province provided employment and vocational training counseling and job referrals to nearly 45,000 workers through job fairs and employment transaction sessions. Many workers found stable jobs and incomes, helping improve their living standards and gradually escape poverty.

The province has also focused on reviewing and classifying the causes of poverty among individual households to provide appropriate support. Local authorities have encouraged livelihood models such as black pig and stall-fed buffalo and cattle farming, while promoting the use of information technology and digital platforms to increase the value of agricultural products.

Alongside livelihood development, social resources have continued to be mobilized to support poor and disadvantaged people. The provincial Red Cross Society mobilized donors to provide 77 “Homes of Compassion” worth more than VND4.6 billion in total. The provincial Relief Mobilization Committee allocated VND1.79 billion to support 179 households whose houses collapsed, were destroyed or swept away by natural disasters in 2025.

The 2026 “For the Poor” Action Month will run from October 17 to November 18, focusing on promoting poverty reduction policies, showcasing successful poverty reduction models and mobilizing contributions to the “For the Poor” Fund. The campaign will also help mobilize resources to eliminate temporary and dilapidated housing, provide livelihood loans and implement social welfare projects, contributing to the province’s goal of reducing the poverty rate by 3-4% annually.
