The traditional craft of bamboo weaving reflects the Tay ethnic culture in Bo Cung

TQO - Bo Cung Hamlet, Kim Binh Commune, Chiem Hoa District is a peaceful countryside imbued with the identity of the Tay ethnic people. Those are traditional stilt houses with bright red tiled roofs, or charming Tay girls in traditional costumes singing the Then melodies. Especially, the Tay people have preserved the traditional craft of bamboo weaving that has been passed down through generations.

The traditional craft of bamboo weaving show the skillfulness of Tay women.

The Tay people in Bo Cung Hamlet account for about 50% of the population. They always believe that the preservation of traditional stilt houses is a beauty in building a new-style rural areas. In particular, with the support of the State, five Tay households in the locality have renovated traditional stilt houses to meet homestay facility criteria. Each house can accommodate about 20-30 people. Some households also have decorated looms and Tinh gourd lutes under the floor or windows to attract tourists. The shady space under the house is a idea place for local people to greet guests and keep the traditional craft bamboo weaving.

Currently, the hamlet has about 50 households preserving this traditional handicraft. Bamboo weaving not only improve the Tay people's incomes but also is one of the criteria to evaluate the skillfulness of Tay women. Therefore, every women in the hamlet know how to weaving when they was 13-14 years old.

Each weaven bamboo sheet are sold at prices ranging from VND10,000 - VND20,000 but it reflects the Tay ethnic culture in Bo Cung Hamlet.
