Hong Lac is located in the southern lower part of Son Duong District, bordering many communes inside the district and outside the province. Two arterial roads DT186 and DH 01 across the centre of the commune connect a lot of neighbouring communes. Kim Xuyen Bridge in Hong Lac Commune is a route for trade connection with Phu Tho Province. The commune has also Lo River route, which is a great potential for economic development and waterway transportation.
The road from Khong Hamlet to Cay Vang Hamlet was completed and put into use.
Under the general orientation plan of Son Duong District, Hong Lac Commune will be promoted to become a centre urban area, transiting and connecting communes in the locality. It will be a nuclear urban area in the lower region of the district, playing a role in enhancing the social development both inside and outside the commune. The centre area in the commune has 7 hamlets, including Kim Xuyen, Go Dinh, Dinh Long, Khong, Cay Vang, Van Long, Kho Chin with a total area of more than 556 hectares.
The commune authorities have encouraged and invited enterprises to invest in key projects with capital recovering ability such as trade - services, hotels, entertainment and tourist areas. In addition, the commune has called for local people to join hands for building of technical works such as transport, electricity and culture houses.
In 2020, Hong Lac Commune communicated and mobilised 178 households to donate more than 35,000 m2 of land and remove over 1,400 m2 of old iron roof as well as hundreds of trees in order to build 2 transport routes from Khong Hamlet to Cay Vang Hamlet and Kim Xuyen Hamlet. The road from Khong Hamlet to Cay Vang Hamlet was completed and put into use.
Currently, the authorities and people in Hong Lac Commune are striving to complete the set targets to meet the criteria of V-grade urban area in the near future.
