Nguyen Van Vinh harvests oranges grown according to VietGap process.
In 1998, when he got married, his parents divided him with 4 hectares of hilly land. Looking at that hilly land, he thought to himself: "The property is here, the future is also here."
After that, he started to plant trees such as sugarcane, rose or pomelo, but failed. Next, he went to different places to learn the technique of grafting oranges on pomelo trees. In 2016, he decided to transplant canh orange on all 56 pomelo trees in his garden.
The graft was successful, the canh orange tree bear fruits. This product is popular with consumers gradually, the highest selling price on the market is up to VND70,000 per kg.
He continued to multiply and plant up to 500 canh orange trees. Realizing canh orange trees is suitable with his family's hilly land. He boldly invested in planting canh oranges according to VietGap.
In 2020, he founded Vinh Thinh Agricultural Cooperative with 11 members. He encouraged the members of the Cooperative to convert to grow VietGap oranges. Currently, the cooperative has 27 hectares of oranges under the VietGap.
Every year, Vinh's family earns VND1.3 billion from growing orange.
He is also a typical example in local economic development.
