Cabinet discusses measures to boost trade with major partners

Key members of the government met with the ministries concerned on July 13 to discuss the measures aimed at bolstering trade with Vietnam’s major partners amid global and regional uncertainties.

The PM called for measures to boost trade with Vietnam's major trading partners.

Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc stated that practical and appropriate measures are needed to boost domestic production, create jobs, maintain macroeconomic stability and retain growth momentum amid a global economic slowdown and intense trade conflicts.

He noted that attention should be given to ensuring harmonious trade relations with key trading partners, including the US, China, ASEAN, Japan and the Republic of Korea, on the basis of equality and mutual benefit.

The government leader asked ministries and local authorities to continue removing obstacles and creating conducive conditions for foreign enterprises, especially those that use advanced technology, possess huge financial resources and large supply chains, and are environmentally friendly, to implement their projects in Vietnam.

In the long run, the PM called for fine-tuning of the policies of interest to foreign partners in order to promote more effective cooperation and on a win-win basis.

He also asked the ministries and agencies concerned to formulate plans to cope with unexpected situations and stabilise the market.
