Linen weaving is a distinctive cultural feature of the Mong people in Lung Tam. Using flax fibers, local women create fabrics, traditional costumes and handicrafts that reflect their ethnic identity. Weaving, embroidery, fabric appliqué and beeswax batik techniques have been passed down through generations. At this year's festival, a dedicated linen weaving space organized by the commune's weaving cooperative will display handicrafts and demonstrate the production process, from harvesting flax and stripping and spinning fibers to indigo dyeing, weaving, embroidering patterns and making traditional costumes.
The program is also expected to feature competitions in making men men (steamed cornmeal), pounding banh day (glutinous rice cakes) and showcasing traditional costumes, alongside ethnic sports and folk games such as stick pushing, stilt walking, tug-of-war and con throwing. Exhibition and sales areas for local products, together with six food stalls, will give residents opportunities to promote local specialties, introduce traditional cuisine and earn additional income from tourism.
