Protecting Consumer Rights

TQO - E-commerce has grown strongly in recent years, becoming a modern distribution channel and one of the important pillars of the digital economy.

To protect consumer rights, the Government has built a legal system to prevent fraud and the sale of poor quality goods, such as: Civil Law, Commercial Law, Competition Law, Law on Product and Goods Quality, etc.

In particular, the Law on Consumer Rights Protection in 2023 has added a number of articles on the responsibilities of business organizations and individuals with consumers in transactions on cyberspace; the responsibilities of ministries, ministerial-level agencies, provincial People's Committees, press agencies, socio-political organizations, and social organizations participating in protecting consumer rights in publicizing information about organizations and individuals doing business on cyberspace that violate the rights and legitimate interests of consumers.

In addition, the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy has built a digital ecosystem to strengthen the protection of consumer rights. This includes a system for managing and resolving online complaints and disputes in e-commerce between people and businesses. The digital ecosystem will contribute to protecting brands in the online environment, ensuring transactions in e-commerce, resolving complaints and disputes, authenticating and identifying subjects in e-commerce, etc.

With the legal system of Vietnam, it will strengthen the protection of consumer rights and combat commercial fraud in the electronic environment.
